Compress
Did you know that OS X comes with file compression utilities built in? Sure, if you have 10.3 you can create zip files from right within the Finder, but there are a few other compressions tools available as well. Compress lets you get at those other tools. Using it, you can easily convert files and folders to .tar, .gz, .bz2, and even .zip archives. Compress can also revert these archives back to their original files.
